Course Description
Playing a game is fun, but designing one is even more so. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of designing several types of games from side scrolling platformers to quest driven Role-Playing Games. They will learn the principles of level design, the features of storytelling in video games, and the correct choice of assets; all while building awesome games they can play with friends and family.

  • Understand and use the principles of level design to make a balanced and enjoyable game
  • Understand and use story telling in video games to create a compelling narrative and entice players to finish the game
  • Create a homogenous game by choosing a theme and complimentary assets
  • Build well designed and enjoyable games of various types
