Course Description:

In this program, students will design and build a working robot with common mechanical mechanisms and basic sensors. Then they will animate and control the robot using a simple block-based programming language. Throughout the course, students will learn how robots interact with their environment using sensors and how through code, they can make robots act in different ways in response to sensor readings.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Become able to follow blueprints and understand 3D drawings
  • Build complex mechanisms using gears, shafts and blocks
  • Understand and use common sensors such as the ultrasonic sensor
  • Code robot behavior and code its response to stimuli 
  • Develop motor skills 
  • Develop sequential thinking skills
  • Practice problem solving and debugging
