Course Description:

With the widespread use of open source hardware and software, developing products is easier and faster than ever. Many people are now developing prototypes in their own basements and either using them in their everyday life or starting their own business out of them. This 6 week course is meant to introduce students to microprocessors and the coding of hardware. In it, they will go build cool and techie gadgets and acquire valuable coding and product design skills.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the usefulness and uses of microprocessors
  • Learn the basic syntax of Arduino language which is heavily based on C/C++
  • Become able to connect hardware on a breadboard
  • Calibrate sensors and use their inputs efficiently in code
  • Control actuators and make them work appropriately through code
  • Link the inputs of sensors to the outputs of the Arduino board
  • Develop critical thinking
  • Improve their logic skills
