The Importance of A in STEAM!

Just like STEM (science, technology, engineering, and Maths), STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) is a concept that emerged in early times.
Historically, the crucial integration of art was represented by Leonardo Da Vinci. He was a scientist and mathematician that used the golden ratio on Mona Lisa to make it aesthetically pleasing no matter how you look at it.But that is not all, it was with Da Vinci’s imagination that the first sketch of a flying machine was created! Art meets STEM.
Now let’s go to a closer time period. Steve Jobs himself once declared that technology isn’t enough on its own.It requires walking hand in hand with liberal arts for it to yield results that blow our minds. So yes, there is art in all our smartphones!
Nowadays, we cannot handle the complex technological requirements that we are facing without the help of artistic minds. The creativity and innovation found in arts enlighten one's STEM skills by fusing personal expression with technical inventiveness.
STEAM is, therefore, the next step that all educational fields should take. This addition of arts to STEM is the special ingredient in a recipe of imagination. Let’s go beyond what can be done to what might be possible. Let's expand our horizons to reach higher achievements and invent.
Why though? Why is STEAM the next step?
The learning environment in the 21st century is more fluid and dynamic. Children are taking more and more extra hour activities allowing them to practice their acquired skills instead of only theoretically learning them. STEAM in the educational system is a way to go beyond the walls of schools and encourage a flexible and adaptable education for the students.
And that, our dear reader, is why you should think outside the box and embrace STEAM education, because without creativity, innovation can’t take place.
